Selections from the new book, "The Diary of a Ballpoint Pen" by Penelope Pensworth
Sunday, December the 21st
Dear Diary,
Today it was snowy. I went outside to make a snowman. I was just about to put the hat on his head, when there was a great
wind. I was blown into a spinning vortex of doom and ultimate destruction. There was thunder and lighning everywhere, and
I closed my eyes, and was suddenly hit on the back of the head with something. I blacked out.
Later, I awoke with a start. I was in a magical land. It was sunny. Little pens frolicked in the fields. Everyone was
happy. I went out to join them in their penlike activities.
But then, from behind me, came a great roar. I realized that this happy pen land was not so happy after all.
